My Silversea Cruise to the Norwegian Fjords

I recently had the pleasure of serving as the Signature host on a 10-day Silversea cruise, departing from Copenhagen and exploring the stunning coastal towns and fjords of Norway.

Copenhagen, Norway

Before the cruise, I arrived a day early in Copenhagen and instantly wished I had more time to spend there. The city is truly beautiful, with its lush gardens, charming parks, and picturesque harbors. The locals were warm and welcoming, making the visit even more enjoyable. I stayed at the Nobis Hotel, a beautifully refurbished former music conservatory, conveniently located next to Tivoli Gardens.

Welcome Aboard

Once aboard the Silver Dawn, we spent the next 10 days visiting eight unique destinations. Stavanger and Alesund were wonderful introductions to Norway, and a scenic bike ride through Trondheim was a memorable highlight. But the real magic began on day five as we sailed through the Norwegian fjords. That morning, we woke up to the sight of towering mountains and cascading waterfalls in every direction. We tendered into the idyllic town of Geiranger, which was buzzing with excitement as Norway’s princess was getting married there that day. A hike to a magnificent waterfall only added to the charm.

Flam, Norway

Our next stop was Flam, a picturesque mountain town. One of the trip’s standout experiences was the RIB boat safari, an exhilarating boat ride through the narrow fjord channels. Surrounded by waterfalls plunging down the cliffs and passing small, quaint villages—including a Viking settlement—the adventure was truly unforgettable.

We were fortunate with the weather, enjoying mostly sunny days, especially while in the fjords, with only a few light showers.

The Silver Dawn

The Silver Dawn, with fewer than 600 guests, offers an intimate cruising experience. The suites are incredibly spacious, particularly the bathrooms, which were larger than those on other cruises I’ve experienced. The ship boasts six restaurants, all of which offered outstanding meals, but Silver Note, with its cozy atmosphere, exceptional food, and live jazz, quickly became our favorite.

Summarizing My Silvesea Norwegian Cruise

I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to experience Silversea’s exceptional service and the breathtaking beauty of the Norwegian fjords. It’s a trip that I highly recommend to anyone looking to add something extraordinary to their travel wishlist.
