My Peru Adventure

I recently returned from an unforgettable week in Peru, a country that captivated me with its rich culture and breathtaking landscapes. Though the trip was short, we packed in some incredible experiences!

Lima, Peru

We began in Lima. I would recommend staying for 2-3 nights instead of just one as many of my clients are eager to move on. The Mira Flores area offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, while the historic district is alive with vibrant cathedrals and museums. A visit to the St. Francis Church and the remarkable Larco Museum is an absolute must.

Sacred Valley, Peru

From Lima, we took a short flight to Cusco, a colorful city situated 11,000 feet above sea level. To acclimate, we spent time in the Sacred Valley, where we explored the archaeological site of Moray and the Maras salt ponds. We also visited the town of Urumna and the fortress at Ollantaytambo, one of the most impressive Incan structures.

Machu Picchu, Peru

The highlight of the trip—and a long-time dream of mine—was visiting Machu Picchu. Our journey started with a luxury train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguascalientes, followed by a bus ride to the base of the mountain. The climb itself was unforgettable, with breathtaking views at every turn. We were fortunate to arrive just in time to witness the sunset’s vibrant colors over the ancient ruins.

While it made for a long day, I would recommend staying overnight in Aguascalientes to break up the trip and enjoy the sunrise at Machu Picchu.

Cusco, Peru

Our final stop was Cusco, where we toured the city’s many archaeological sites and visited one of the most spectacular cathedrals I’ve ever seen. We also visited an alpaca and llama farm, which was a highlight in its own right. Cusco is a lively city with excellent nightlife, dining, and shopping—particularly for alpaca wool items like sweaters and blankets.

Summarizing My Peruvian Adventure

This trip was truly one for the books, and I left a piece of my heart in Peru.

I have always loved travel! Even as a little girl, I would plan imaginary trips to places I found in National Geographic. I have realized my dream and have been in the travel industry for over 26 years. I love being creative for my clients. I especially enjoy planning unique experiences that my clients would not have imagined or seen anywhere else.
