My Norwegian Luna Cruise to the Caribbean

NCL Norwegian Luna Ship Cruise

Hello, new-cruise-ship lovers! I recently returned from an incredible September 26 sailing aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s brand-new Norwegian Luna, and I am so glad I chose it.

I love discovering the innovations cruise lines introduce, and I’m excited to share my experience aboard this beautiful Prima Plus Class ship. Norwegian Luna offers something for everyone—from romantic escapes for couples to nonstop fun for families. Here is my agent review and a closer look at why this ship deserves a place at the top of your vacation bucket list.

Four Caribbean Destinations

Our seven-day itinerary included four ports—one more than many weeklong cruises. Honestly, there was so much to enjoy onboard that I could have happily stayed on the ship at some of the stops.

We visited:

  • NCL’s Private Island “Great Stirrup Cay”
  • Puerto Plata
  • Tortola
  • St. Thomas

The Private Island had a free BBQ Lunch. However, it was a bit chaotic. The public areas of the beach were a little noisy and crowded. You can pay extra for the Vibe Club Adults Only Beach which people said was fabulous. Also, if you have children the water park is massive!

In Puerto Plata we took a trip downtown to visit “Pink Street” and “Umbrella Street”

Tortola was our favorite. We took a catamaran to Treasure Island (Norman Island) and snorkeled in a secluded spot filled with colorful fish, stingrays, and even a turtle.

St. Thomas is always beautiful with it’s crystal blue waters.

Next-Level Thrills and Relaxation

Norwegian took the best elements of its earlier ships and elevated them. The standout attraction is the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid roller coaster and waterslide at

sea. I was nervous at first, but after seeing guests of all ages return with huge smiles, I gave it a try—and enjoyed it so much that I rode twice.

The Drop Zone

This heart-pounding slide begins on Deck 18 and ends on Deck 8. The floor opens beneath you for a fast, exhilarating free fall. It sounds intimidating, but it was not as scary as I expected—and I rode it twice, too.

Arcade and Glow Court

The ship also has an impressive arcade. Families should note that games cost extra, so consider setting spending limits on children’s room-key charging privileges.

Glow Court is a high-tech, weatherproof outdoor LED sports complex created by CONDUCTR. It replaces the traditional cruise-ship basketball court with an interactive gaming arena and transforms into a lively party space at night.

Places to Unwind

If you prefer a slower pace, Norwegian Luna offers plenty of relaxing spaces:

  • Infinity Beach: Enjoy unobstructed ocean views from the edge of the ship.
  • Vibe Beach Club: This adults-only sanctuary is ideal for soaking up the sun with a premium cocktail. An additional fee applies.
  • Observation Lounge: Take in beautiful views, enjoy a snack, and relax in a quieter area of the ship.
  • Hidden nooks: Throughout the common areas, you will find peaceful places to read, people-watch, or simply unwind.

Freestyle Dining and Standout Restaurants

One of my favorite things about NCL is Freestyle Dining. There are no fixed dining times or strict dress codes—just plenty of excellent options. Through Norwegian’s Free at Sea program, guests may choose a dining package that includes three meals at specialty restaurants that would normally cost more than $50 per person.

We selected three fabulous restaurants:

  • Hasuki Teppanyaki: More than dinner, this is high-energy entertainment. Talented chefs prepare steak, chicken, and fried rice right in front of you, complete with jokes, knife-flipping, and plenty of laughter.
  • Cagney’s Steakhouse: NCL’s signature American steakhouse did not disappoint. The premium steaks were cooked beautifully and paired with delicious sides such as truffle fries and creamed spinach.
  • Onda by Scarpetta: This sophisticated Italian restaurant is a must-visit. Fresh artisanal pastas and elegant seafood dishes bring upscale Italian flavors to the open ocean. I am particular about Italian food, and it was delizioso!

Be sure to visit Indulge Food Hall, a marketplace offering everything from Indian cuisine to artisan desserts. Guests can choose a table or booth and order from any food stall using a tablet.

Accommodations: Finding Your Perfect Fit

From solo travelers to multigenerational families, Norwegian Luna offers a stateroom for nearly every travel style. I toured several categories during my sailing:

  • The Haven: NCL’s signature “ship-within-a-ship” luxury enclave features private keycard access, a dedicated lounge, a private pool deck, and 24-hour butler service.
  • Solo Staterooms: NCL continues to lead the industry with dedicated rooms and lounge areas for solo travelers, helping guests avoid the dreaded single-supplement fee.
  • Balcony and Club Balcony Suites: These spacious, modern accommodations offer attractive fixtures and plenty of storage. We loved our balcony cabin.

Rocking the Night Away

The onboard entertainment felt worthy of the West End or Broadway. Music lovers have especially strong options:

  • ELTON: A Celebration of Elton John: The production values were outstanding, and the theater was electric as the audience sang along to classic hits.
  • The Eagles Show: This tribute offered a different but equally impressive experience, with flawless harmonies and iconic guitar riffs that honored the legendary band.
  • Fleetwood Mac Review: We caught the end of this show but it was top notch and everyone said it was fabulous!

Final Thoughts:

In Summary if you are looking for a cruise where you will never be bored, have great food and beautiful accommodations the Norwegian Luna is your ship and I would love to help you plan your next cruise vacation!
