Ovation of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s impressive Quantum Class ships, known for blending innovation, luxury, and adventure at sea. Launched in 2016, the ship offers guests a high-tech cruising experience with features like the North Star observation capsule, which lifts passengers 300 feet above the ocean for breathtaking views, and the RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator. It also features the FlowRider surf simulator and a rock-climbing wall for added excitement. The ship boasts cutting-edge entertainment, diverse dining options—from casual cafés to gourmet restaurants—and spacious staterooms designed for comfort and style. With a capacity of over 4,000 guests, Ovation of the Seas sails to stunning destinations across Asia, Australia, and Alaska, offering an unforgettable mix of relaxation, exploration, and world-class service.

To use the RipCord by iFLY, guests must take a brief safety class, wear appropriate clothing, and participate with an instructor. To use the FlowRider surf simulator, you’ll need to sign a waiver, which can conveniently be done during your muster drill. Even if you don’t plan to try the FlowRider yourself, it’s a lot of fun to watch others give it a go—it’s always an entertaining experience!

Dining Onboard

One of the popular specialty restaurants on board is Jamie’s Italian. When we tried to dine there, it was fully booked, so I recommend making reservations in advance. There are several other specialty dining venues on board as well, which come with an additional cost. Guests can choose early dining, late dining, or Your Time Dining in the main dining rooms. My Time Dining is available between 5:30 and 9:00 PM. If you have an assigned early or late dining time, you’ll need to attend at your scheduled slot. For a more casual experience, you can always visit the Windjammer Marketplace buffet, which offers flexible hours and a wide variety of options.

Entertainment and Nightlife

The ship has a piano bar, where you can enjoy trivia games or other forms of entertainment. There’s also a lively Music Hall, a two-story venue featuring live bands and dancing—a fantastic place for an evening out.

Other entertainment options include the casino, onboard shopping, and numerous lounges. If you forget something while on a shore excursion, there’s a good chance you can find what you need in the ship’s shops.

Onboard Accommodations

Ovation of the Seas offers a wide range of stateroom categories, including the Royal Loft Suite, Owner’s Loft Suite, balcony cabins, ocean-view cabins, and inside cabins.

One particularly innovative option is the Virtual Balcony Stateroom, which features a large floor-to-ceiling virtual screen displaying real-time ocean views. It’s a great way for guests in inside cabins to still enjoy the sights of the sea.

I stayed in an ocean-view balcony cabin, which felt surprisingly spacious for a cruise room. On our first night, I requested an extra blanket—it made sitting on the balcony in the cool evening air extra cozy. I highly recommend asking for one right away so you can comfortably enjoy the ocean views.

Pools and Outdoor Areas

On Deck 14, you’ll find the main pool area, which often features live music and entertainment. Nearby is Splashaway Bay, a fun water play area for kids. Toward the front of the ship is an indoor pool, which tends to be quieter—perfect if you’re looking to relax.

There’s also a beautiful Solarium, an adults-only retreat with panoramic windows, comfortable lounge chairs, and a tranquil atmosphere. Food and drinks are available throughout these areas, making it easy to enjoy a meal or snack while you unwind.
